Singlets

Folkstyle Singlets are the singlets worn by the "School" and "College" teams across the United states. Ninety percent of the singlets manufactured in the USA and worn by wrestlers  are Folkstyle singlets.

These singlets are also called "High-Cut" singlets because they can be cut no lower than 4" under the arm-pit. In addition, the "scoop", both front and back, can go no lower than 4" to 6" from the base of the neck.

Folkstyle singlets are characterized by various school colors and specific school designs. Folkstyle singlets are usually customized to suit particular school designs and special Club colors and logos.

Freestyle Singlets are universally worn by wrestlers in all countries. They are characterized by design limitations: 1) In color they are limited to dominant red or dominant blue. Their design can be modified slightly as long as red or blue is dominant. 2) Freestyle singlets can be cut as low as six inches under the armpit. 3)The Freestyle scoop, then, can go as low as 12" front or back.

Freestyle singlets are currently designed to FILA specifications. FILA specifications, however, seem to be individually interpreted, depending on tournament officials and tournament location. It is important to check with the Freestyle Manager's dress code if you have doubts.
